"So Great" is a cross-stitch chart with instructions translated in English.
The text says in French "It is so sweet it is great" which is a play on words, "chou" meaning "sweet" and "chouette" meaning both "owl" and "great". It is shown in the picture worked as a miniature and mounted as a eyeglasses case.
Design stitch count: 90 wide x 72 high
Design area:
- 7,5 x 6 cm (3 x 2½ in) on a 32 count fabric if stitched as a miniature
- 18 x 14,4 cm (7 x 5⅝ in) on a 25 count fabric
- 16,4 x 13,1 cm (6½ x 5⅛ in) on a 28 count fabric or on a 14 count Aida
- 15 x 12 cm (5⅞ x 4¾ in) on a 32 count fabric
- 14,3 x 11,4 cm (5⅝ x 4½ in) on a 16 count Aida
Special stitches: This is a cross-stitch design with some back stitches and straight stiches and a few smyrna cross-stitches.
Threads and colours
This pattern shows 4 colours (DMC stranded cotton numbers on the chart).
The model on the picture has been stitched on a 32 count linen colour "light purple" (Zweigart Belfast colour n°558) as a miniature using one strand of cotton over one thread of fabric. But you can work it in full size using two strands of cotton over two threads of fabric / one block of Aida.
Recommended Fabric: of your choice regarding the type (linen / evenweave but preferably not Aida because of the smyrna cross-stitches) and the stitch count, colour "light pink" or "light purple" (to be checked with the stranded cotton at hand), 35x35 cm (14x14 in).
