How to make a pencil case with fabrics

When it comes to do-it-yourself and craft activities, it is amazing to see all the small supplies we can accumulate over the years.

No to mention the time we spend sometimes just looking for them when we need to find, for instance, this so-perfect-for-Christmas-cards-silver-pencil that we're pretty sure is in this drawer.

Here is the nice way that Un Petit Bout de Fil has chosen to store together her pencils and ruler, this one being usely too large to fit in a traditionnal pencil case.

It is also a convenient way to carry along just what you need instead of the whole plastic storage box.

We think it can make also a pretty case for your crochet hooks.

And obviously the dimensions can be adapted to fit your own project and the specific items you'd like to store inside.

How to make a pinkeep with a side pocket

pinkeep_face_414x400We know you were eagerly waiting for this one!

As all the other tutorials displayed so far, it has been originally written by the French blogger Un Petit Bout de Fil.

You will find it very useful to help you to mount your design in an original way. For instance, many Tralala designs are finished this way.

What we particularly like in this Pinkeep version:
- it is not only decorative but also useful: there is a little pocket on its back, very handy to store
your embroidery scissors or packs of needles
while stitching;
pinkeep_back_400x388- it is easy and quickly made.

If you don't like, or want, to associate glue or adhesive tape to your stitched work, this may not be the right tutorial for you. But it gives you the opportunity to try your hand at some cartonnage technique which may become for you an opened window to a new creative world.
